Jon Bland

Jon Bland Jon is currently the Assistant Head at The Stanway School in Colchester where he also teaches Maths. He first got involved with Hand in Hand after a summer visit to Africa with tearfund. It was through Jon and Daniel Jones that Hand in Hand effectively adopted their second project, ACK Daylove Childrens Centre, Kenya. Jon is married to Neeru and has two young sons, Wesley & Reuben. He is a Worship Leader at his church and has returned to Kenya with members of his church youth group on many occasions. 

Dave Garlick

Dave Garlick Dave is the co-founder of Hand in Hand, setting it up after a visit to Brazil in the early 1990s and seeing the need amongst street and slum children. Subsequently Dave has visited Brazil on a regular basis. He is married to Ana and was a full time Church pastoral worker for 10 years after studying at Moorlands College. Dave and Ana returned to Ana's home country Ecuador in March 2006 to help the local church restart a feeding and education project, Mano & Mano, for the children of El Tingo, near Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Amongst his many achievements, Dave has cycled the John O'Groats - Lands End route on four occasions to raise money for Hand in Hand.

Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones Daniel first got involved with Hand in Hand after his first visit to Kenya, with Tearfund, in 1998.  It was through Daniel and Jon Bland that Hand in Hand effectively adopted their second project, ACK Daylove Childrens Centre, Kenya.  From 2003 to 2007 Daniel served as Hand in Hand's National Coordinator, before joining Stewardship, where he now works as Marketing manager.  Daniel is married to Dawn, with whom he has a young daughter, Amelia.

Andrew Rose

Andrew Rose Andrew is a Solicitor working in the City and a member of the Lawyers Christian Fellowship (LCF). He is married and attends Kingsland Church, Stanway. Andrew has visited Africa with LCF in partnership with tearfund & participated in the creation of the Centre for Legal Education and Research (CLEAR). Andrew joined the board of trustees in March 2006.

Grant Smith

Grant Smith Grant works part-time as a quantity surveyor which allows him to work on many development projects in Africa. Grant is also a consultant for tearfund in the field of Theological Studies and manages a limited company, Hand in Hand Trading. HIHT works to create sustainable employment in farming and construction in East Africa. He is married to Sue, has 3 children, and has also written a book in his "free" time!

Gladys Wathanga

Gladys Wathanga Gladys joined the board of trustees in April 2004. She is a Kenyan with over 20 years of experience in development work. Gladys is a former employee of World Vision and currently works as the Kenya Development Officer for tearfund. She lives in Oxfordshire with her husband Joshua and their two sons.
